Meghalaya Assembly Election
Meghalaya is a small state in northeastern India, also known as the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, which is responsible for making laws. Assembly elections are held here every five years to elect members of the Legislative Assembly. If we talk about the political parties here, the Indian National Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party, National People’s Party, United Democratic Party and other parties are involved in the Meghalaya Assembly Election. In the last assembly elections held in 2018, the National People’s Party emerged as the single largest party, the United Democratic Party was the second largest party, while the Indian National Congress was the third largest party. Konrad Sangma of the National People’s Party was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Meghalaya. In Meghalaya, here the candidate who gets the most votes in a constituency is declared the winner. There are 60 assembly constituencies in the state, and each of these 60 assembly constituencies can cast their valuable vote for one candidate. The party or coalition that wins 31 seats in the assembly is able to form the government and its leader is appointed as the chief minister of the state.
